The face behind
The Art of Mothering
I began the working of guiding and holding mothers through their initiation into motherhood in my own small community. The work began with breastfeeding help and witnessing mothers’ worries before it naturally expanded to include birthkeeping and postpartum support.
Motherhood has often felt isolating to me, and I have felt, for 16 years now, that I’m paving a new path when it comes to raising children (birth, pregnancy, postpartum and beyond).
When I had my first child, there were no baby carriers available at the local Walmart, so I made one. There were no natural baby products, so I made those too. My doctor insisted my child would become ill if I didn’t feed her packaged baby cereal. Now, doctors recommend baby-led weaning! Imagine!
This entire journey has been one that has come from my center. It’s been a deeply spiritual process, and has allowed for me to listen to my own voice above all the others. It’s become my work of art.
The Art of Mothering serves as part memoir, part manual on the journey towards conscious parenting, intentional homemaking, and keeping your light bright in your work as a mother. I hope it brings you & your family many bright blessings.
